If you were down for the Watermelon Festival last weekend, then this is for you! American Family Housing hosts Ribs, Pigs, & Watermelons, a pro BBQ competition, fundraising event with three days of food, family fun, watermelon themed games, live entertainment, and watermelon carving demonstrations. Tickets are $5, food also available for purchase.
Eagle and Badge Foundation Summerfest
Elysian Park (6-11pm)
bring on the booze, food trucks, casino games, music and dancing. Doesn?t sound like something the LAPD would get behind right? Well for just this one night they will look the other way, while you drink, eat, and play casino style games at the Eagle and Badge Foundation 2012 Summerfest. Taking place at the Elysian Park Academy, near Dodger stadium, the night will feature drinks by Eagle Rock, Golden Road and Angel City Brewery, Maker?s Mark Bourbon, RumChata, Blue Ice American Vodka, Cielo Malibu Estate Wineyards, Woodstock Collection Fine Wines, and much more. Food trucks on hand include Flat Iron Truck, Slammin? Sliders, Surfer Taco and Sweet Wheels Dessert Truck. Tickets are $100 each or $150 for a couple.
Barnsdall Wine Tasting Fridays

Unwind and enjoy the beautiful Barnsdall Art Park as the sun is setting, from the gated gardens in the West Lawn of the historic Hollyhock House. Silverlake Wine will present four selections of boutique, small production, artisanal wines from around the globe. This week will feature DJ Dan Wilcox of KCRW and delicious food from Heirloom LA, Let?s Be Frank, Gastrobus and Coolhaus. Tickets are $25, or $5 for kids and designated drivers. More info here.

Live music is back at the Malibu Family Wines tasting room. Grab a picnic basket and a bottle of wine from their tasting counter and enjoy live music in the beautiful hills of Malibu. The music starts on Friday night from 7-9pm and continues through the weekend. Shows are free and are 21 and over only. LA Craft Beer Crawl

The annual LA Craft Beer Crawl returns to DTLA. Enjoy well over 50 craft beers to sample across 7 different unique bars and restaurants all within walking distance in Downtown Los Angeles. The event is a collaboration between Cedd Moses of 213 Ventures Inc., and Hallie Beaune and Christine Perozzi also known as ?The Beer Chicks.? The beer selection will be curated by The Beer Chicks, beer personalities and authors of The Naked Pint: The Unadulterated Guide to Craft Beer. Simply diVine brings together some great restaurants and wine in an outdoor setting along Melrose Place. Participating restaurants include AOC, Short Order, JAR, Nickel Diner, Sotto, Street and more. Long Beach Grand Cru

The Long Beach Grand Cru is an international wine competition as well as a public food and wine tasting taking place at Rainbow Lagoon Park down in the LBC. It was created by the Long Beach office of the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles to increase awareness and raise funds for legal services for low income people. The competition has grown in size and prestige, attracting wineries from around the world. Tickets are a stiff $160, but you can write it off as a donation.
Cemetary Screenings: Wet Hot American Summer

Bring your blankets, drinks and picnic dinner for this Hollywood screening below the stars! This weekend, they are showing movies from Dusk till Dawn, including Wet Hot American Summer, Sleepaway Camp, and Little Darlings. Admission is $10, parking is also available for $10. Get your tickets here.

Australia Rediscovered Wine Tasting

The third Sunday of each month the wine team of Campanile hosts a tasting event. The tasting will include 30 to 40 wines and are picked based on a theme. The best of which will show up on the wine list the following week. Campanile will provide small bites, charcuterie, artisanal cheeses to accompany the wines and K&L will be pouring the wines with experts on hand to discuss the intricacy of the selections. Tickets are just $25.

The L.A. Derby Dolls are Southern California?s premiere all-female, banked track roller derby league.
