Every Fri?day night, I?host a?night of card and board games at my home. Friends arrive around seven in the evening and we have drinks, con?ver?sa?tion, and gam?ing until about eleven. We have drinks, we eat, we social?ize, and we remind our?selves that we are not our jobs, our debts, and our fam?ily issues. We remind our?selves that there is more to our lives than the bland day-to-day frus?tra?tions that wear on the soul. We smile. We laugh. We enjoy one another?s company.
This week, as a?sur?prise to all that arrived (around ten peo?ple), my friends Lisa and Drew asked me to per?form a?mar?riage cer?e?mony for them. Around eight-thirty, I?gath?ered every?one in the back yard of my home, and when every?one was gather, asked the happy cou?ple to step for?ward. As I?began read?ing the vows, I?watched the faces of my friends, the spec?ta?tors. The sur?prise, delight, and dawn?ing joy on their faces as they real?ized what was hap?pen?ing was wonderful.
It is good to remem?ber the joy in the world, that hap?pi?ness is all around you. It is also good to remem?ber that?adven?tures?need not be large, bom?bas?tic things?they can hap?pen in your home on a?run-of-the-mill Fri?day night, with the last brtezze of sum?mer blwo?ing through your own backyard.
